Brincadeiras no "riozinho'...

(E) At the begining of the spring of 2016, still living in Miami, I found a picture shot by my father in 2010 under a "castanheira" tree at Praia da Costa beach in Vila Velha, state of Espirito Santo. At that time I was living in Rio and was visiting my parents for the first time since they moved from Minas Gerais state to Espirito Santo, the state where they were born. They got married in December of 1975 and went to live in Itabira (Minas Gerais state),the city where my father was working. In 1984 he got transferred to Mariana, the city where the company he worked had opened a new unity (Timpobeba mine). The family had grown, 5 of us at that time. The youngest of our family (my brother David) arrived in 1985. The connection of our family with Espirito Santo state is very strong. My parents are "capixabas - person from Espirito Santo) from the same town, João Neiva. Each year we traveled on vaccation from Christmas Eve until the end of January. After Christmas celebration at my Grandma Mariquinha´s, all started to prepare for New Years Eve in Barra do Sahy beach (town of Aracruz). We spent weeks at Barra, walking until Porto de Celulose, Putiry and Praia dos Padres beach... Played at the "little river"... Following the "Trio Elétrico" (a truck with a big sound system with a band at the top) and getting wet by the water truck... aunts, cousins together.. At the vacation's end we still had a stop in Vila Velha, the city where my grandparents and my aunt Ivaniuda lived. To close our days there, Aunt Ivaniuda use to take us (me and my brothers) to Praia da Costa beach (in front of the Hostess Hotel where she liked to stay). Unforgettable vacations, full of adventures and that fed my passion by the shore. This drawing is a homage to this memories.
