(P) Quando eu voltei a Provincetown em 2016, trouxe comigo uma pasta com os desenhos que havia feito em Miami durante o inverno americano. Mostrei meus desenhos ao amigo Tom, um dos meus maiores incentivadores, e ele me desafiou: - Porque você não monta uma exposição? Minha primeira reação foi rir, e achar que aquilo não tinha cabimento. Mas outra parte de mim se sentiu desafiada...
Eu tive também um sentimento de intimidação. A quantidade de galerias de arte em Provincetown é inversamente proporcional ao tamanho da cidade: são várias, e tem muitos artistas renomados, que expõem trabalhos muito bonitos e interessantes. Tive dúvidas e por vezes pavor em pensar numa exposição, mas topei o desafio em segredo: só eu sabia que eu realmente estava comprometido em realizá-la. Decidi começar pelos lugares que eu mais gostava na cidade, em seguida as edificações. Quando mostrei alguns dos meus desenhos ao Phillip - um dos proprietários do The Red Inn - ele também me incentivou a exibi-los. Depois desse encontro, marquei a data da instalação: 04 de outubro de 2016. Agora, com data marcada o tempo parecia correr ainda mais... Eu ainda tinha que pensar nas molduras, na escolha das peças (naquela altura já eram 14), na ficha técnica... foi muito aprendizado e trabalho até esse bendito dia. Meu companheiro Doug Repetti me ajudou a pendurar e dispor as peças "como se estivesse contando uma história. Ainda tinha uma lâmpada especial para destacar um dos trabalhos. Não exitei escolher o primeiro deles "Lighthouse on Waves" - foi o primeiro a ser vendido (D. Quinn Taylor, meu primeiro cliente). Tanta gente envolvida nesse processo, um sentimento enorme de gratidão e a certeza de que cada uma dessas pessoas serão pra sempre parte dessa história.
(E) When I came back to Provincetown in 2016 for my second season, I brought with me a folder containing all the drawings I made in Miami, during the American winter. I showed those drawings to my friend Tom, and he - as one of my supporters - challenged me: "Why don't you make an art exhibition? My first reaction was laugh, thinking that would be impossible. But another part of myself liked the challenge. I also felt intimidated: The amount of art galleries in Provincetown is inversely proportional to the town's size: there are many and there are lots of renowned artists who show really beautiful and interesting artwork. I had self doubt and sometimes dread thinking about an exhibition, but I accepted the challenge in secret: only I knew I was comitted to accomplish it. I decided to start to draw my favorite spots in town, inluding buildings. When I showed some of those drawings to Phillip (one of The Red Inn owners), he also encouraged me to exhibit them. After this, I appointed the installation date: October 4, 2016. Now, with a date, time seems to run faster. I still had to think about the frames, choose which pieces go to the show (at that time there were 14), info tags... it was lots of learning and work until that blessed day. My parter Doug Repetti helped me to hang and display the pieces "as I was telling a story". At the gallery they had a special light to feature one of the artworks. I had no doubt that the one I would feature would be the first one I finished: "Lighthouse on Waves" - that was the first one to be sold (D. Quinn Taylor was my first customer).
